ABOUT SSEW

SSEW is a Facebook group where any expat who has been in Singapore for more then 3 years can join. In this group, long term expat women can speak the same language, connect, share information, support each other and forge long term friendships in a positive non- judgmental space. Some women have been here over 10 years and for others this is their second or third stint in Singapore – they have seen it all and are thrilled to connect with other long termers they didn’t previously know.

Being a long-term expat is a delicious dichotomy of guilt and loneliness together with confidence and knowledge. It’s a mixed and colorful bag which I sift through every day with the enormous membership base. I’m proud to have developed a safe and rich home for these seasoned women to feel safe in.

It’s my firm resolve, there should be no seasoned expat who is lonely, trapped or crippled by any situation, and that through this community, they will live with joy, clarity and a sense of purpose.

So, if you have been in Singapore 3years and want to find out what the fuss is about – just join!

What goes unnoticed is also the time you take with friends and those who need friends. I am not sure everyone appreciates how special you make everyone feel. One in a million.
